Public Health England has reported that one in four people in the UK is taking potentially addictive medicines such as benzodiazepines. This is why it is so important to look for supplements or alternative medications to help treat anxiety conditions. Taking a certain pharmaceutical grade oil can help alleviate physical and psychological symptoms in just two weeks. What is it?
Research suggests that there is a non-addictive alternative to the usual anxiety medications often prescribed by doctors.
Lavender oil prepared exclusively orally has been shown to reduce excessive neurotransmitter activity, reduce overstimulation and hyperactivity of the nervous response, and improve anxiety symptoms.

What the experts said
Professor Hans Peter Volz, professor of psychiatry, said: “More than 15 clinical trials show that lavender oil is effective in reducing the psychological and physical symptoms of anxiety.
"The effects are comparable to treatment with pharmacological drugs including SSRIs and benzodiazepines, but without the common side effects such as sectioning or addition."
Lavender flower and its extracts have been used internally and by smell for centuries as a treatment for depression and anxiety.
Analytical research has identified that the major active constituents of oil have begun to elucidate the mechanisms of action, and controlled human trials now document the effectiveness of lavender.
Lavender contains a high concentration of volatile oils that impart its distinctive and pleasant fragrance and has also been proven to help alleviate anxiety symptoms.
