The 3rd edition of the Momondo Bloggers Open World Awards (BOWA) 2019, a search engine that surveys travel agency and airline sites and compares prices for flights, hotels and rental cars, took place yesterday. November in Lisbon, where the winners of four categories were unveiled: Open World, Blog, Photography and Video.

This initiative aims to reward the best national travel bloggers who every day invest their talent in writing, photography and videography to inspire others to travel.

Meet the winners of the 2019 edition:

Open World Category

The blog that most inspires the Portuguese about the importance of traveling, effectively transmitting and sharing momondo's vision, was the blog. Black Foot Gang belongs to the renowned photographer Isabel Saldanha who is accompanied in this project by her two daughters and a friend.

Second place in this category was assigned to the page Feet Up ACCM Mário Roldão's creation, where his travels to various destinations in the world are portrayed.

Category Blog

In the Blog category, the challenge is, from the written word, to inspire and involve people in the travels that others experience, conveying the thrill of discovery, beauty, curiosity and adventure. It was for this purpose that the blog Traveler's Soul, by Filipe Morato Gomes, was considered the best in this category.

For the second year running, Michelle Cascais Rita with her blog Life with alice stood out in the public eye, ranking second in the Blog category.

Category Photography

For the Photography category, the prize went to João Rodrigues Amorim and his page. @followthesuntravel, an influencer who travels out of the comfort zone and leaves a positive mark wherever he goes. Photos of extraordinary beauty where landscapes, people and animals are the true reflection of the art of travel. The runner-up, representing public preference, was the page Travel between trips, by Carla Mota, who stands out for the breathtaking photographs that inspire us to explore other destinations. In last year's edition, Carla Mota won in the Video category.

Video Category

In this category, the winner was Olivia Ortiz and her vlog that create this moment of sharing and space to imagine and live the travels intensely. Second place went to Carla Mota with her vlog Travel between trips.

The winners of the 4 categories will have the opportunity to travel to Copenhagen, where momondo is located, for a digital marketing workshop and a masterclass in Lisbon with renowned professional photographer Joel Santos.

The first place winner in the Open World category will receive € 1,000 to spend on travel. This year there was also room for special recognition for Open World Travelers Ambassadors – Ambassadors Program, who have reached the momondian level of the program.

The winners were the blog Mariscando by Mariana Vetrone, Was There Lake by Manuel Lago and the blog Zero Kilometer by Ivan Simão.

This year's edition of the Bloggers Open World Awards featured Canon's partnership, which awarded € 1,000 worth of photographic equipment to the runners-up in the 4 contest categories.
