Jeff Hordley, 49, first appeared in one of Britain's most beloved soaps, Emmerdale, almost 20 years ago. At that time, his character Cain Dingle experienced his fair share of drama, including illicit cases, violence and even a debilitating brain aneurysm. For Jeff, the line of fiction and reality was a little confused, as he suffered from a debilitating disorder. Jeff's wife Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona Goskirk on the show, talked about how his illness changed their lives.
Zoe revealed the only activity in particular that helped them deal with the turmoil of fighting the disease – their placement.
"There's a lot to be said about mental health and having your hands on the ground – that's important to me.
For Jeff, it's the health benefits of eating what we've grown. It's great to share with my kids too … not that they love, hate.
"But I'm working on it!"
Jeff spoke to Express.co.uk in 2009 and revealed: “Although I try to avoid foods that disturb my digestive system, such as coffee and Chinese food, I was still sick and tired and continued to lose weight.
I was a theater student in Manchester and sometimes I had to miss classes because I was too tired. I even had to give up my pieces from last year. "
Fortunately for Jeff, her healthy eating meant that her symptoms had subsided and, for Zoe, a healthy and happy family is at the forefront of everything she does.
