MILAN (AP) – Inter Milan and AC Milan have announced the two projects selected for the proposed new stadium, which is expected to demolish its iconic Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in San Siro.
In a presentation at the Polytechnic University of Milan on Thursday, the two finalist architectural firms – Populous and Manica-Cmr Sportium – unveiled their plans.
In collaboration with the clubs, the city council will decide whether to give the green light to one of the projects. You could also choose to renovate the existing stadium.
Both projects would bring fans closer to the field than the existing stadium and both also beckoned to the old stadium.
Manica's designs would see the preserved old countryside and a city-wide park, while Populous plans to place a museum on the site of the ancient countryside, with the entrance where the central circle stood.
The Italian-American company Manica's design includes two interlocking rings, with individual fan face panels on the outside.
The stadium designed by Populous – an American company – echoes Milan's famous sights, such as the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and incorporates a glass-covered gallery.
