What is scoliosis?
The NHS said: “Scoliosis is where the spine is twisted and curved to the side. it can affect people of any age, from babies to adults, but it usually starts in children 10 to 15 years old.
Scoliosis can improve with treatment, but it is usually not a sign of anything serious and treatment is not always necessary. "
What are the symptoms?
“The signs of scoliosis include a visibly curved spine, tilted to one side, uneven shoulders, a shoulder or hip sticking out, ribs sticking out on one side and clothes that don't fit well.
"Some people with scoliosis can also have back pain.
"This is generally more common in adults with the disease," said the NHS.
Treatment depends on age, the severity of the curve and the likelihood of worsening over time.
Many people do not need treatment and only a small number will need to undergo spinal surgery.
It is not clear whether back exercises help to improve scoliosis, but general exercise has been shown to help general health and should not be avoided unless recommended by your family doctor.
