Patrick Marleau is returning to San Jose.
General Manager Doug Wilson announced on Tuesday that the all-time shark leader in games, goals and points is returning to his original team with a one-year $ 700,000 contract after spending the last two seasons in Toronto .
Sharks failed to score a point in their first three games for the first time since 1993-94 and scored just three goals in the process. This led to the move to add a veteran ahead with an NHL production history.
Marleau, 39, left San Jose two summers ago to sign a three-year, $ 18.75 million contract in Toronto after sharks were unwilling to offer a deal for more than two years. Marleau scored 43 goals and 41 assists in two seasons at the Maple Leafs, before being negotiated for Carolina in June in a salary cap change.
