You don't have to go to the ends of the earth to find paradise – just the end of Florida.
That is, at The Moorings Village Resort in the Florida Keys, the chain of islands that extends to the southernmost point of America.
Moorings Village occupies 18 acres of land on one of Keys' most beautiful islands – Islamorada (eye-luh-murr-ah-da) – about a third of the way. And it is simply stunning.

The perfect place to watch sunset or sunrise – the hammock equipped with hammocks
Her website describes it as an "oasis … tropical, tranquil and untouched". Sounds good, right?
This is underestimating.
During my three night stay there, I experienced a vacation morning that is among my all-time favorites.
We arrived in the dark the day before, so obviously we couldn't get a proper measurement of the place.
The sunrise led to the conclusion that we were somewhere extraordinary.
We left our cabin – 17 in all – and wandered among the 800 palm trees in the resort's beautiful pièce de résistance gardens – a huge private beach of white sand dotted with hammocks.
Beautifully furnished plantation-style chalets come with well-equipped kitchens
Moorings Village is an oasis where you will only be disturbed by occasional pelicans
Ted writes about the pool – surrounded by tropical vegetation and pleasantly tiled, worth a magazine cover.
One hangs at the end of a dock. We whirled around with cups of coffee and just gaped in disbelief at the oasis of it all.
The tranquility was broken only by the occasional pelican diving and the school of fish that disturbs the surface of the jade green water.
At that moment, I considered asking to spread my ashes there.
I'm sure the cast and crew of the Netflix Bloodline series, which was filmed on site, had the same thoughts.
If you have not sold a reservation for a stay, you will be hearing about the accommodation. And the pool.
Moorings Village has 17 chalets in total – and the gardens are adorned with 800 palm trees.
The Moorings Village site describes it as an oasis … tropical, tranquil and untouched.
Ted loved the & # 39; house rules & # 39; – & # 39; no kidding or loud voices anywhere on the property & # 39;
Our cottage – called Pinder – was simply delicious. A charming two-story plantation-style apartment with open kitchen (The Moorings Village is self-contained), a living room, a huge wooden dining table, two cozy double bedrooms, two large terraces (one upstairs and another facing the ocean) which involved the back and side of the house downstairs), a very elegant upstairs bathroom with an independent bath and separate shower and a downstairs toilet.
We also loved the list of "house rules" we found in the kitchen that said "there should be no joking or loud voices anywhere on the property."
The huge communal outdoor pool was the other tastiest icing on the cake. Fringed by tropical vegetation and pleasantly tiled, it is worthy of a magazine cover.
Dreamer: Many of The Moorings Village Rooms Have Sea Views
In addition to stunning rooms, Moorings Village chalets have luxurious bathrooms and huge terraces.

Morada Bay Beach Café & Bar, across the street from Moorings Village, is worth staying – if you can stand out from the hammocks
The Netflix Bloodline series was filmed on location at The Moorings Village. Pictured is a scene from the series filmed at the resort's pier.
We were tempted to stay on site for the duration of our three night stay and increase the number to 11.
However, a day trip 80 miles south of Key West could not be resisted. The road there is super – and includes a crash over an 11-kilometer bridge – and Key West is a brilliant mess of crazy personalities and beautiful estates, including Hemingway's former home. Also, it is the southernmost point of the continental US, so it is worth checking this geographical box.
O Morada Bay Beach Cafe and Bar Across the street from Moorings Village it was also worth staying. Mainly because, as the name suggests, you can dine on the beach – and watch the sunset with a mojito.
Moorings Village life – heavenly.
